TRANSATLANTIC CROSSINGS
Sail
from Southampton to New York and any worries you might have
about the voyage, can be left at the quayside. The ship travels
smoothly and quietly, even in poor weather or at its top speed
of 30 knots (34.5 mph). Designed with two sets of stabilisers
and an extra thick hull for strength and stability, it is
an impressive vessel. It cost an estimated £543 million, has
5 swimming pools, 22 elevators, 12 passenger decks, 1,310
cabins of which 953 have a private balcony.

CRUISING
& PORTS
Cruising on the Queen Mary 2 is a great way to see the world.
However, if you don't have the patience for frequent transferring
to port by tender, check the itineries available before you
book; as some are planned to include as many 'alongside' ports
as possible. The majority of new cruise ships have flat bottoms
and can get into the main ports, the Queen Mary's ocean-going
deep hull limits access to some ports, but the greater stability
and sheer luxury of travelling on her is more appealing to
most passengers.
