Cruise
ship prices
What you see, is not always what you get! Find out how inclusive
"all inclusive" really is! Some cruise lines will include all food
and drink, others have different variations. The main dining room
meals are nearly always included in the tariff, but alternative
dining venues onboard are usually extra.
When you look at the total cost of a cruise - it will be worth wading
through the small print to see how many 'add ons' you can expect.
The hidden extras on some of the apparently reasonable fares, can
double the actual cost of your cruise.
The extras will be: meals in the speciality restaurants,
many of the ship's onboard activities, staff gratuities added at
a rate of £5 to £8 per person per day, plus 15% charges on drinks,
excursion charges, internet use, spa treatments, and launderette.
This is in addition to the taxes, port fees, fuel surcharge, travel
insurance, flight transfers that will also increase the overall
cost of your cruise.
Fares on luxury cruises may appear excessive at first, but a closer
look will reveal that many of them include a lot of passenger friendly
services that will not cost extra:
Staff gratuities, speciality restaurants, wine with dinner, all
bottled water and non- alcoholic drinks, ice creams, mini-bar drinks.
Booking shore excursions through the cruise line will generally
be more expensive than making your own arrangements.
Your cruise will be more of a pleasurable experience if you are
determined to select the best cabin you can afford, on the right
ship for your requirements, as opposed to finding the cheapest cabin
on the least expensive cruise.
It is always more cost effective to have a travelling companion,
as the Singles Supplement can range from 100% to 200%.
Booking off-peak or repositioning cruises can give you the luxury
you want, but at a more affordable tariff. Repositioning cruises
are generally referred to as Discovery, Voyage, Crossing, Eastbound
or Westbound and not specifically identified as 'Repositioning'.
Some cruise lines offer discount incentives to encourage customers
to rebook with them.
